Chris and Lorelai in the kitchen - I am assuming she had a reno done? lol, nope. They are just "testing" a kitchen out on a real estate tour. It’s a nice place, but not funky enough for Lorelai I don’t think. Yikes, it’s not Stars Hollow! WTF is Chris thinking?
"Honey, I can’t imagine a better house." - Lorelai
Ok, who stole my Lorelai and replaced her with a polite, rather snooty woman who likes sculptured trees and marble sinks??
Well, at least she has some sense. She won’t leave Stars Hollow. And Chris gets the vibe that she doesn’t even want to move at all. She likes her house. At least Chris knows when to give up.
Lorelai goes over to see Emily to plan the wedding party. She introduces her to the party planner, Randall Farber. He used to work on Opera’s - sounds very over-the-top, hey?
Order number one: choosing a theme for the party. And Lorelai tries to say "it’s just a party" in front of the party planner. Hehe.
Kirk is at the diner trying to sell Christmas paper to Miss Patty, but she already bought hers from the school kids. Kirk says she got ripped off. Except his is going to his own charity - himself.
Liz arrives with the baby, Doula. Really cute. Liz asks if April is excited about being a cousin, and she is. Liz asks about Anna. Luke says he’s calmed down. Made a list of things he wants as a parent. Visitation agreement stipulations. Sounds reasonable and responsible. Liz thinks Luke should get a lawyer.
Then Liz leaves Doula with Luke for an hour. Ah, the look of panic on his face. Precious.
Randall is still showing his table settings. Most are fairly lame, don’t you think? Lorelai just wants to laugh at him, which is rather rude. Rory calls and Lorelai tries to use it as a help call to get out, but Emily overhears Rory. Rory was just ditching on her dinner plans with Lorelai to see Logan. And Lorelai confirms he’ll be at the party - she is "padding" the guest list. In the whole "double digits" now - so I guess she is still not inviting Stars Hollow folks.
Really, if Lorelai whined a lot less and just spoke up, that planning would have gone a lot faster. Maybe she’s more whiny because Chris is denying Lorelai her regular sugar intake. ;)
Chris and Lorelai have a very long and stupid talk in the market. Really nothing worth recapping. At the end of all the whining, Lorelai goes to wait outside while Chris pays for the groceries. Outside she runs into Luke walking Doula. They chat about the weirdness of her name and Luke is smiling a lot. No hostility.
Lorelai holds the baby and standing next to Luke they look like a perfect family! And then Chris walks out…
Rory takes Logan to the Yale Cafeteria, since he never had a meal there as a student. She tries to sneak him in with a family pass, but one of Logan’s friends spots him and slips out the girlfriend part. Almost $10 for a lunch pass?! That’s crazy.
Rory spots Lucy and introduces her to Logan. Again, another boring chit chat session. Bad writing. The only interesting part: "boyfriend" appears to get Lucy and freaks at seeing Logan. Lucy asks the inevitable "How do you two know each other?" but Marty evades with the bartending gig at Logan’s parties as the excuse. But Lucy opens her mouth again with the surprise that Marty and Rory never met.
Logan is just itching to ask WTF. Rory tries to explain how she went along with Marty first out of surprise, and then now just because she’s locked into a weird situation. And she provokes Logan’s jealousy by dropping that Marty still likes her and told her she’s beautiful. And he gets annoyed that Rory kept the entire thing, including Marty being back, a secret.
"Let’s make a baby" - Christopher
Lorelai thinks it’s a joke, but they try to talk about it. Here Lorelai says she "doesn’t know" if she wants another kid (didn’t she have plans for little kids with Luke?!). Anyway, she says "I guess", and Chris takes that for a "let’s do it right now" but Lorelai backs off and he gets offended. Chris’ first reaction is that they have the money for it, so why not? Um, yeah. It takes more than money to raise kids, plus they both have GiGi to raise now too. That decision can’t be made in 2 minutes!
Chris asks if Lorelai is unsure about their relationship now. She is offended at the accusation but still doesn’t understand the rush. It’s like he’s testing her commitment or something. And doesn’t like his results.
Kirk is being bullied by the middle school kids for outselling them. Prank calls, pizzas to his house. And now they come into the diner all "we want to talk, outside."
Luke calls to see where April is. She hasn’t shown up for their movie date. Anna wouldn’t let her go.
"Luke, you can’t just come to my house, threaten me, then just expect me to send April off to see you."
Then she says she doesn’t want April to see Luke. At all. And says it is her decision. Then hangs up.
Lorelai and Chris show up to the hall for the food and wine tasting for the wedding party. Chris has dropped all semblance of a sense of humor and is not happy with Lorelai’s jokes.
Emily expects Lorelai and Chris to exchange vows at the wedding "party", which in essence is another word for "ceremony", I think. Lorelai is angry. Says they just agreed to a party, not a wedding.
"A wedding is a party" - Emily
Emily says she wants to witness them be married. And Chris says it’s a good idea. He, of course, will take any affirmation of marriage from Lorelai at this point. And he becomes a big baby about how everything is Lorelai’s decision. He doesn’t think it’s a huge deal to just go along and get married again. Lorelai says they are already married. Then Chris tosses into Lorelai’s face the wedding she had planned with the "diner guy".
Luke goes to a lawyer. He doesn’t want custody, just his "list" of visitation rights. In order to get his "list", he must sue for partial custody. The lawyer doesn’t think he has a good chance since he wasn’t in April’s life until recently, even if that wasn’t his fault. Luke still wants to fight, try his best to make his case, even if he has little chance.
Luke’s jealous beating of a guy’s car might come back to haunt him in court. The lawyer suggests anger management classes. Luke doesn’t want it to get ugly - but are they ever anything but? Plus, he needs to decide fast to go forward or not - cross-state battles are harder.
Lucy, Marty, Rory and Logan are at the Indian restaurant for dinner. Logan is very aware of Marty and Rory’s discomfort. He then brings up people who have had crushes on Rory. Just kind of poking at the flame. Lucy brings up how hard working Marty is with 4 jobs and he tosses back:
"Hey, just waiting for that trust fund to kick in"
Ok, so Marty is even more obsessive than we thought. He "met" Lucy by stalking her. Creepy.
So, Lucy asks how Logan and Rory met. And Logan tells the truth. Marty introduced them. Then dishes the secret of Marty & Rory being friends. Lucy freaks, as she should. But I think Logan did the right thing. I don’t think it was jealousy, he’s fairly arrogant, but he was asked directly and he told the truth. Rory shouldn’t be mad, and she should have fessed the secret herself. But the night ends in a fight.
Rory calls home with the "boys suck" mantra. She thinks Logan did it out of jealousy. Nothing else there.
Lorelai is at the inn doing inventory while Chris closes out a bar. On Chris’ way back to his car (um, drinking and driving!), he spots Luke getting out of his truck. Chris storms towards Luke. Luke walks towards Chris. Scarf goes down. Jackets off.
Chris throws the first punch. Misses. Luke ducks under and hits Chris in the middle. Then punches him in the face. Chris goes down. Luke grabs Chris and throws him into a Christmas display. Chris barrels Luke down and pins him to the ground. Luke reverses it. They get up and stare each other down like bulls. They get in a few punches. Chris slams Luke into a Christmas tree. Ouch. Glass balls have got to hurt. They both crawl away. Nothing spoken.
Rory goes to see Lucy. Olivia answers. And slams her out. Rory walks away crying.
Lorelai comes home. Emily is waiting on the porch. She is concerned about Lorelai and Chris. She says Chris is immature. And their marriage won’t be perfect. That it’s about swallowing pride. Compromising. Things that Lorelai are not good at. She came to warn Lorelai not to let things fall apart.
